They stumbled upon a small clearing, the moonlight
illuminating a circle of stones covered in strange, ancient runes. In the
center lay a weathered, wooden box, partially buried in the earth.
"What's that?" Sarah whispered, her curiosity
piqued despite her fear.
Tom approached the box, brushing away the dirt and leaves.
It creaked open, revealing a dusty, leather-bound book. As he picked it up, the
whispering grew louder, more insistent.
"Maybe we should leave it alone," Jess suggested,
her eyes wide with apprehension.
But Mark, driven by a mix of fear and defiance, snatched the
book from Tom's hands. "It's just a book," he said, flipping it open.
The pages were filled with strange symbols and drawings of grotesque, shadowy
figures.
